AS 2518-17 and Stern-100: 2x2716 or 2x2732 in U2 and U6

A) introduction:

It is not really difficult or time consuming to change a -17 in a -35 MPU and to use it in every Bally or Stern-100 game until 1985. Same with the Stern-100 MPU. You may decide, if you want your MPU to work with 2 x 2716 in U2 and U6 (I prefer this configuration for Stern-100 games and Bally games with chime unit) or with 2732 in U2 and U6. This modification means, that the MPU can be placed in every game exept Stern-200 pinballs.

B) 2x 2716 in U2 and U6:

Solder side of MPU: Cut the trace running to pin 21 at U2 and also the trace to pin 21 at U6. Wire U2 pin 21 to U2 pin 24. Wire U6 Pin 21 to U6 Pin 24. Cut trace running to U18 (4049) pin 4 and connect it to U18 pin 5.

Then jumper between the following pads marked with an "E": 1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8-10.

U2 and U6 are ready to take 2716 now.

C) 2x 2732 in U2 and U6:

Solder side of MPU: Cut the trace running to pin 21 at U2 and also the trace to pin 21 at U6. Wire U2 pin 21 to U6 pin 21 and connect them to U9 pin 24. Cut the trace running to U18 (4049) pin 4 and connect it to U18 pin 5.

Then jumper: 1-2, 3-4, 6-7, 8-10 Please send email if you have other prom specifications. (2,0)*

U2 and U6 are ready to take 2732 now.

This wasn´t really a problem, right? If you have trouble with the jumpering configuration, there is also a document online (area Flash Gordon).
